On 19 November, our President spoke at the international conference ‘Responsible Pet Ownership, From Legislation to Action’, organised by Purina Europe together with the RSPCA and the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE).

Sara Turetta presented Save the Dogs‘ activities in Romania and reflected on the positive impact that the first European law for the protection of dogs and cats could have if it were approved in a form similar to that proposed by the EU Parliament.

Save the Dogs was one of three non-profit organisations invited to speak, while participants came from Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary (as well as Romania).

There was great harmony in the views expressed by all stakeholders present on the new law, a fundamental first step for the protection of companion animals, but with some important gaps that will need to be filled in the coming years.
