Our support for the animals of people facing serious economic and social hardship does not stop at our street outreach activities.
Once a month, the Street Unit of the Friends on the Streets – Companion for Life project carries out home visits for the animals of people in need, often referred to us by humanitarian organisations such as Caritas, Emergency, and the Red Cross.
These interventions are primarily aimed at the animals of elderly, isolated, sick, and severely economically disadvantaged people who live in social housing, makeshift accommodations, or temporary shelters, and who are unable to reach the street assistance points we set up every week.
During home visits, we provide specific, high-quality food, veterinary care, and basic necessities to ensure the animals’ well-being, as they are often the only emotional bond and a fundamental source of emotional support for these individuals and their families.
Supporting our project for the animals of homeless people and those in financial difficulty means leaving no animal or family behind, and working together to build a new model of solidarity and inclusive welfare.
